War Child Presentation

On Thursday someone from war child came into speak to us. She mainly spoke to us about the Civil war in Syria, where rebels are fighting against the current government there.

Here are a few facts I learned from the presentation:

Children that are in war have no:-
  • Education
  •  Protection
  • Child safe space
And Children in war are at daily risk of:-
  • Torture
  • Rape
  • Abduction

Just in Jordan, there is over 700,000 refugees, because they had to leave Syria as there is a war there. They thought they was leaving to go to someone nicer, however this is not the case, as the Refugee camp is small and has barb wire all around. There is thought to be 116,000 refugees there, so where is everyone else?

Refugee camps are not child friendly spaces, partly because no one is looking after them. The camp also only has four schools, which is not enough for the amount of children there.

The refugees may be recruited to fight or join the Syrian army. Young girls are also forced to marry, which would most likely end up in them getting pregnant and losing the baby due to the living conditions.
